1817 (15 Feb.) entire letter from Paris to Charles Smyth in Calcutta, re-addressed to Agra, carried on the "Hadlow", charged at 1/2d., the face struck with "india ship letter/london", the reverse struck with Calcutta G.P.O. d.s. and the rare "king's postg./co's inld. do./1891" boxed d.s. Interesting contents include "The King of France is yet alive ... and not sufficiently beloved to make his game rise. he acts in no great hope & much dislike, should anything happen to the old fellow, perhaps we may have another mishap ... has a servant from Muttra & I was highly amused, the other day ... Hindostan with him...". A rare use of the King's postage d.s. from France and a letter of historical importance. Photo.
