Camel Post: 1903 (25 July) picture post card from Rietfontein to Berlin bearing Cape K.E.VII ½d. and 1d. pair (S.G. 70-71) tied by superb strikes of "938" barred oval with the associated "mier/b.b." c.d.s. (27.7) with Upington (4.8) and Steglitz (30.8) c.d.s. The card (corner fault) features a Kudu of German South-West Africa.

A very scarce example of mail from the period when camels were used to transport mail between Mier (a village of Rietfontein where the agency was situated) and Zwartmodder. Although the datestamp carried the designation "B.B." for British Bechuanaland, the agency at Mier/Rietfontein did not open until after the annexation to the Cape. Very few recorded. Photo
