1897 (31 July) stampless officer's letter to Scotland marked "on Active Service. Stamps unobtainable" and signed in the top corner "J.H. Cowie, Sub Insp. B.F.F." with good strikes of "kuruman/bechuanaland" c.d.s., framed octagonal "T/25c." and London "2d/f.b./a", the reverse bearing Cape Town (5.8) and Dunfermline (28.8) arrival c.d.s. Thought to be sent from a member of the volunteer battalion of the Black Watch. Photo
