1890 (28 Sept.) double rate envelope registered to London bearing 4d. on ½d. vermilion in a vertical strip of three used in combination with 1890 2d. (two vertical pairs) tied by "palachwe/khamas town" c.d.s., numbered "95" in black ink and with London registered oval arrival datestamp (28.10) alongside, the reverse with Cape Town registered oval and Western District Office. The envelope is a little soiled and the flap is missing. A scarce and very desirable combination. Photo
