Shoshong and Kanye: 1888 (21 Aug.) 1d. on 1d. lilac and black cancelled by central strikes of "shoshong/bechuanaland" and "kanye/bechuanaland" respectively; fine. The first shows breaks in "c" and "t" [53], the second flat "c" [29]. Although these postmarks were not changed immediately, used on this day they are just as scarce and, of course, the earliest recorded date of use. (2). Photo
