½d. vermilion overprinted "cancelled" type 14, a lower left sheet margin single from the first printing without marginal rule, unmounted mint; vertical crease in the margin. Rare and desirable. Photo

The Cancelled overprint was applied to just twelve stamps by De la Rue; six copies were placed in a reference book held by the Inland Revenue and the other six placed in the company records. It is thought that there are only five examples in private hands
