Yemen, Arab Republic (1962-90), Order of Justice, 1st Class sash Badge, by Skinner & Co., Bond Street, London, 49mm, silver-gilt (hallmarks for Birmingham 1981) and enamel, good very fine

The Order of Justice, a two-class order, was instituted by Republican Resolution No 76 of 15 May 1981, and is awarded to judges, lawyers and the staff of the attorney general who are deemed to have been of service to the nation. The order is also open to bestowal upon foreigners. The badge is a ten-pointed multi-rayed star upon which is superimposed a five-pointed gilt star with narrow green enamel borders. In the centre, a red enamel circle with a green border, from under which the arms of the gilt star extend. Within the circle the gilded arms of the Yemen Arab Republic. Between the arms of the gilded star are gilded scales of justice.
