The Order of Seventy, a very scarce award, in three classes, was only presented upon the recommendations of the Commander in Chief of the Military or the President of the YAR to the heroes of the seventy-day siege of Sana'a during the civil war. Awards were made to Hussain Al Amri, the Commander in Chief of the Army, and to the Commander in Chief of the General Staff. The badge is an eight-pointed star with a red enamelled rim with ball finials. Between each arm only slightly visible are the points of a further eight-pointed star. A central medallion with a white beaded edge encircling a red enamel circle bearing the inscriptions in gold at the top, "The Yemen Arab Republic" and at the bottom, "Order of Seventy". In the centre on, a green enamel background, a winged fist holding a jambiya (dagger) which bisects the inscription, "The Republic or Death". Above the fist the figures "70" surmounted by the rays of the sun.
