Lot: 276

'Victoria Cross', of mid-20th century manufacture, large ring suspension, unnamed, undated and unissued, reverse surfaces a little rough but with burnished finish, good very fine and a rare opportunity to acquire an example of the most fabled decoration in existence from the original metal, together with an old leather case by C. Packer & Co., 76 & 78 Regent St, London in which it has been stored for some time

Perhaps a casting pattern or reference example for display produced by the manufacturers, with evidence of a little porosity to the reverse. Nonetheless the obverse crisp and with excellent quality in its hand-finished details.

Sold together with a copy of the report compiled by David J. Callaghan FGA, Director of Hancocks (manufacturer of the Victoria Cross) from 1964-97 in October 2025.
