William Albert King was the son of William J. and Susan King, he was born at Bethnal Green and enlisted at Shaftesbury St., N.. He entered the war in Egypt on 24 August 1915.

He was killed in action on 16 August 1917 when the 4th Battalion, London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) was engaged in the Battle of Langemarck, part of the broader Third Battle of Ypres near Ypres, Belgium. King is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was additionally allocated the service number 280308.
