(x) A pair of Royal Navy Admiralty Passes
Admiralty Pass with order “to Suffer the Ship Champion Snow of Marblehead, Peter Green Master, Burthen One hundred and twenty Tons mounted with no Guns, navigated with ten men, all his Majesty's Subjects, Plantation built and bound for Bilbao and Cadiz to pass…without any Let Hindrance Seizure or Molestation.”, dated 1 August 1770, reverse features handwritten note "Delivered to the Master in Boston in the Province of Massachusetts Bay in New England the first day of August 1770”, printed on vellum and with Admiralty Seal, a few pinholes along folds and some stains and ageing, some rubbing to text makes it difficult to decipher in places but still largely legible
Admiralty Pass with order “to Suffer the Ship Swift of Rush, John O’Bryan Master, Burthen about Fifty Tuns, mounted with No Guns, but pierced for Eight Carriage and Mounted for Eight Swivel Guns, navigated with fourteen men all His Majesty’s Subjects, an English built Cutter bound to Barcelona to pass…without any Let Hindrance Seizure or Molestation.”, signed by the Earl of Sandwich, dated 30 March 1778, reverse features handwritten note “This Pass delivered to John O’Bryan at His Majesty’s Custom House in Dublin the Thirtieth day of March 1778”, printed on vellum and with Admiralty Seal, a couple minor pinholes to upper right, ageing and stains, text clear and legible (2)
