(x) An archive of contemporary books and pamphlets relating to Lord Nelson

Miniature bound book ‘Lives of British Heroes’, published in London, 1800, which includes a short biography of Nelson, identifying him as one of the preeminent heroes of British heroes even during his lifetime, wear to binding which is coming apart at the spine, thus in delicate condition but pages are all present and clear

Bound book ‘War for the liberty of the Seas or The expedition of Parker and Nelson in the year 1801’, published in Copenhagen, featuring a few pull out maps, some wear and stains, ageing, text otherwise clear and legible

Pamphlet ‘The Life of the Much Lamented Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson, Baron of the Nile, Knight of the Bath, and Duke of Bronte. Containing, a genuine account of All the Battles and Victories gained Under his Command. With every particular relative to his Glorious Death.’, printed in Manchester, circa 1805, not bound but pages are all present and in order, wear and tear to edges with some minor paper loss, but this does not obstruct legibility of text

Autograph letter written by Edward Protheroe, merchant and future MP for Bristol, addressed to Messrs Bordell in Cheapside, London requesting they reserve for him a proof of Lord Nelson’s portrait and a proof of a print depicting his death, dated 28 November 1805, with Protheroe’s personal red wax seal, reverse spine reinforced with tape, reverse paper loss from seal, some stains and fading, text clear and legible

Pamphlet ‘The British Flag Triumphant! or the Wooden Walls of Old England: Being copies of the London Gazette containing The Accounts of the Great VIctories and Gallant Exploits of the British Fleets during the Last and Present War; together with correct Lists of the Admirals and Captains in the several Engagements: to which is prefixed, an Address to the Officers, Seamen, and Marines, of His Majesty's Fleets.’, printed in London, 1806, with handwritten name at top “Captn. W. P. Cumby”, significant wear and tear to page edges though this does not affect text

Bound booklet ‘Descriptive Account of the Kymin Pavilion, and Beaulieu Grove, with their various views: Also the Naval Temple, with new notices of Buckstone…to which is added, Lord Nelson’s Visit to Monmouth, his speeches and conversation at the dinner table, his own remarks on his important victories, with his public reception at Rudhall, Hereford, and other places, on his tour.’ by Charles Heath, printed at Monmouth, circa 1807, some ageing and stains (6)
