(x) A collection of materials regarding Lord Nelson’s death and his funeral, including contemporary Thanksgiving sermons

Printed and bound Thanksgiving Sermon to be used throughout England and Ireland on 5 December 1805, declared by the King to be a day of Thanksgiving for the victory at Trafalgar and the death of Lord Nelson, printed in London, 1805, housed in an attractive brown cover with blue ribbons for closure, sermon with some stains, light creases, and edge wear, text is clear and legible

‘A Sermon preached at Charmouth, December 5 1805, being the day appointed for A National Thanksgiving on account of the Late Glorious Victory off Cape Trafalgar. By John Crook.’, wear to paper cover, some wear to page edges with creases and folded corners, text is clear and legible

‘Victory and Death. The Substance of A Discourse, Delivered December 5, 1805; The Day of General Thanksgiving, for The Total Defeat of The Combined Fleets, by Lord Nelson; in aid of The Patriotic Fund. By Thomas Wood.’, Printed in Huddersfield, 1806, housed in grey card cover, inside are purple Barrett Biblical Institute, Evanston Illinois, Aug 2 1917 stamps with a few additional related stamps, stain to lower right corner throughout, foxing, text remains readable

A colour print of the Grand Funeral Car which carried the body of Lord Nelson during his funeral procession, published 14 January 1806, removed from book, with slight edge wear and a light crease to upper left corner, tape residue to reverse (4)

Together with a modern copy of 1806 pamphlet ‘The Ceremony to be observed in the Public Funeral Procession of the late Vice-Admiral Horatio Viscount Nelson’; and three modern plates showing details of Nelson’s tomb in St. Paul’s Cathedral
