REX.'; reverse Britannia seated right upon a vast Trophy of Arms, holding a figure of Victory and surrounded by the legend 'Mari Victrix Terraque Invicta' and 'Avitum Transcendit Honorem MDCCXCVIII.' in exergue, BHM 458, Eimer 897, 48mm, copper, 1798, by C. H. Kuchler, one minor edge knock at reverse six o'clock, a few tiny scratches to reverse field, contained in its original metal case, otherwise about extremely fine

This medal commemorates the many British victories throughout 1798, including the Battle of the Nile; capture of Port Mahon; Minorca; Tory Island; and several actions in Ireland.
