(x) South Atlantic 1982, with rosette (24541566 Pte R W White Para), very fine

The 2nd and 3rd Battalions of the Parachute Regiment played a vital role in securing victory for the British in the Falklands War. On 21 May 1982 they landed at San Carlos alongside the Royal Marine Commandos. They played a titular part in the securing the garrison at Goose Green on the 27 - 28 May 1982. In June, the Paras fought at Mount Longdon on the 11-12 June. and then at Wireless Ridge on the 13-14 June. Their final assault came on the 15 June when the regiment led the advance into Stanley thus becoming the first British troops to reach the capital.
