Sir Vivian Ernest Fuchs (1908-1999) was awarded the Royal Geographical Society's Founder's Medal in 1951, for leading the Commonwealth Trans-Atlantic Expedition. Examples in bronze were presented to the 37 expedition members but Fuchs received a unique specimen stuck in gold. Spink, obtained a specimen in silver for their archive collection.
