FROM HIS MAJESTY KING GEORGE IV TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE ROYAL ACADEMY, ACCESSIT XXIX IAN. MDCCCXX, within three lines in wreath, 84.72g, 68mm (cf. BHM 1010; cf. Eimer 1123), mounted, bruised and lightly sweated, nonetheless detail remains pleasing to central devices, very fine

Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830) was President of the Royal Academy during the reign of George IV, having been elected on 30th March 1820. The original medal presented to Lawrence was struck in gold. This later gilt-electrotype copy was most likely produced later into the 19th century or early 20th century.
