Macedon, Under Roman Rule, AR Tetradrachm, Republican period, First Meris. c. 167-149 BC, diademed and draped bust of Artemis to right, bow and quiver over shoulder, in the center of a Macedonian shield decorated with seven eight-pointed stars within double crescents, each separated by three pellets, rev. club, monogram above, monogram and E below, all within oak wreath, winged thunderbolt to left, 16.94g (AMNG III/1, 175; BMFA 731; Prokopov AH1/C- (unlisted rev. die); cf. Gaebler 175 (mongrams)), ex-mount, nicked to edge, obverse pleasing, toned, about very fine
