The Pritchard Collection of 18th Century Provincial Tokens and Commemorative Medals
This medal was commissioned by Jacob Pleydell-Bouverie, 2nd Earl of Radnor (1750-1828), to honour the celebrations in Salisbury for the Golden Jubilee of George III. On the 11 August 1810 Lord Radnor ordered six specimens (later reduced to five) in gold, 56 silver gilt, 24 silver and 500 copper bronzed. It should be noted that this piece is the only Küchler medal that cannot have been restruck since the dies were cancelled on completion of the order.
