i) Matthew Young died at the age of 68 on the 12th June 1838. During his lifetime he was a member of the Numismatic Society of London, and was highly esteemed for his quiet amiable manners, his honourable dealings, and his willingness and skill to assist collectors in their pleasing pursuits (see Gentleman's Magazine, July, 1838).
