The Pritchard Collection of 18th Century Provincial Tokens and Commemorative Medals

The Wearmouth Bridge was completed in 1796 after three years of construction, at the time of its completion it was the biggest single-span bridge in the world standing at a span of 73 metres. It was in fact only the second cast iron bridge to be constructed, after The Iron Bridge in Shropshire. Due to its innovation it was described at the time as a one of the wonders of the industrial age.
