(x) The French Legion of Honour awarded to Sub Lieutenant E. Grand of the 8th Regiment of Colonial Infantry, who was killed in action at Gallipoli on 9 May 1915

Emile Grand was born on 21 July 1881 at Basjean, Eastern France. He was killed on 9 May 1915 at Seddul-Bahr, Turkey. The entry on the Certificate of the Legion of Honour reads:

'Mortally wounded in the head of the section which he was leading an attack of the enemy trenches, from the city.'

A letter dated 12 January 1921, from Livre d'Or des Heros de la Guerre de 1914, regarding the potential entry in the book relating to her son.
