(x) A 19th Century Zulu Knobkerrie, 67.5cm, ball head, plain haft

Provenance:
Part of the contents of Methven Castle, Perthshire. Being relics of Colonel M. D. Smythe, 79th Foot who served 1874-78 and who retired to Natal Native Contingent as Captain. He was gazetted as Captain of the Royal Perth Rifles 3rd Black Watch 1880. He retired in 1897 as Lieutenant Colonel Commanding.
