(x) Militia L.S. & G.C., E.VII.R. (716 Gnr: W. S. Kirkham. P of W. O. R.G.A. Mil.), light contact wear, very fine

Walter Stephen Kirkham was born in 1865, a native of 1 Huson Square, Nowich, and was awarded his Militia L.S. & G.C. in 1906. Discharged in 1908, he re-attested on 7 November 1914 at the age of 55 with a Garrison Battalion of the Norfolk Regiment (British War Medal 1914-20). Kirkham served with them until the foundation of the Royal Defence Corps in early 1916, to whom he was transferred on 19 April 1916. He was later discharged on 7 March 1919; sold together with copied service papers.
