M.I.D. London Gazette 19 October 1916.
Frederick Parnell was born at Halstead, Essex and enlisted at Colchester, Essex. He first served overseas in the Asian theatre from 10 March 1915. The whole of the 86th Battery was involved with the Siege of Kut between 7 December 1915 and 29 April 1916. He would have been taken Prisoner after the end of the siege.
Pannell's date of death is given as June 1916 however the documentation disagrees with regards to the exact day. What is clear is that he died in captivity and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
