B.E.M. London Gazette 3 January 1945.

John Robertson is not entitled to a 1914-15 Star for serving with the Royal Field Artillery (T.F.), after the war he returned to sea with the Merchant Marine. During the Second World War, Robertson was sailing with the SS Empire Cliff based out of Lerwick. His award was published in a supplementary gazette to the New Year 1945 awards list in which many civilians were honoured for their role in the preparations for D-Day; sold with corresponding miniatures and Buckingham Palace slip for the British Empire Medal dated 29 April 1946.
