(x) Three: Serjeant J. McNeill, Royal Army Service Corps, who went 'in the bag' during the Fall of France and was held as a Prisoner of War at the Hohenfels Camp in Germany

James McNeill was born on 28 August 1911 at Perth and served in the Second World War as a Sergeant in the Royal Army Service Corps, 525 Company.

He was stationed in France with his Regiment when he was captured by the enemy and sent to Stalag 383, the prison camp Hohenfels, in Germany. Exact dates are unclear, but existing records indicate that McNeill was a prisoner of war for most of the Second World War, from 1940 until his liberation in 1945, with P.O.W. number 18656. He was discharged from service on 19 December 1945 and a few years later his medals were sent to him on 1 July 1948 to his address at 15 Market Street, Perth, Perthshire; sold together with copied records and information on the Hohenfels camp.
