(x) A Second World War Canadian Memorial Cross awarded to Lieutenant R. J. Carpenter, Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps who died on 28 May 1943

Robert John Carpenter was born at Chudleigh, Devon, on 2 December 1893 and originally enlisted into the Royal Canadian Garrison Artillery serving between 28 September 1911 and 19 March 1913. Carpenter attested into the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps on 12 May 1914 and spent the whole of the Great War based in Canada.
He was awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. Medal in 1931 and commissioned into the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps on 1 January 1942 but was discharged as medically unfit on 19 November 1942. Carpenter died on 28 May 1943 and is buried in Quebec City (Mount Hermon) Cemetery.
He is further entitled to the War Medal 1939-45 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal.
