Khedive’s Sudan 1910-21, 1 clasp, Nyala, unnamed, good very fine

Awarded for the period 26 September 1921-20 January 1922 in small numbers. Approximately 40 mounted infantrymen, 40 police and a handful of friendly locals for the Defence of Nyala and members of the Column under Major Grigg, which operated south of Nyala until January 1922. It precipitated after Fiki Abdullabi proclaimed himself the Prophet Isa and gained a large following in southern Darfur. Together with around 5,000 men they attacked Nyala at great cost, including the death of their leader, with operations lasting into the following year.
