Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Defence of Lucknow (Corpl. G. Wilson, 1st Batn. 5th Fusrs.), light contact marks, otherwise very fine

370 Defence of Lucknow clasps were issued to the 1/5th Foot.

George Wilson was engaged at Cawnpore in November 1857 and was part of the first attempted Relief of Lucknow under General Havelock. Despite not making the city the men of the column did qualify for the Defence of Lucknow clasp. Wilson recorded as invalided to England and discharged at Colchester on 25 September 1860; sold together with copied research.
