(x) India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Burma 1887-89 (2651 Pte. D. Jones 2d. Bn. Ches. R.), very fine
David Jones was born in Mold, Flintshire, Wales circa 1860 and served in a militia prior to his enlistment at Chester on 2 June 1880. He embarked aboard the transport ship H.M.S. Serapis on 30 December 1880 for the East Indies, where he was stationed for nearly seven years. Jones arrived in Burma from the East Indies on 1 November 1887, and remained there exactly a year; departing for India on 2 November 1888. He did not return to England until 1 December 1890, having spent nearly a decade of service abroad. Jones was transferred to the Army Reserve on 27 September 1890 and was later discharged on 1 June 1892.
