A White Metal Silver Trophy Cup

standing 21.3cm high, engraved 'Presented to Col. Sergt R Stanley by Officers N.C.O.'s & Men "H" Coy 4th Worc Regt Malta 16-6-06', good overall condition

Robert Stanley was born circa April-June 1878 in Walsall. He enlisted into the Worcestershire Regiment in 1892 and married Jane Elizabeth Pulley in Evesham in late 1896. Stanley was a presented with the cup as a Colour Sergeant on 16 June 1906 whilst in Malta serving with the 4th Battalion. In the 1911 Census, he is recorded as being married and residing in Broadway, near Evesham. Stanley was awarded his Long Service Good Conduct Medal on 1 January 1910 as a Quartermaster Sergeant and later, as Quarter Master Sergeant of 3rd Battalion in 1911, the Coronation Medal 1911.
