George Gapper was born at Bedminster, Bristol and was killed in action serving in the 1st Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment on 4 October 1917 during the attack on Polderhoek Chateau. When the Battalion withdrew to Ridge Camp after the attack, of the 670 who had gone into action, only 7 officers and 283 men were left. 69 men were killed including Gapper and 300 wounded. He is Buried at Hooge Crater Cemetery, IX. K. 5., Belgium; sold together with copied research.
