Denis Bullock Grayson was born at Skipton, Yorkshire in 1933. His father Richard Grayson was a road labourer and his mother was Florence Lily Grayson (nee Barker). The family lived at 126A Keighley Road, Skipton, Yorkshire in 1939 and in 1965 he married Jean Ferguson. Grayson died on 7 September in Leeds.
