Talbot Tim Logan was born on 10 February 1913 at Kyambu, Kenya, the son of Edward and Muriel, who were planting in East Africa but hailed from North Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Young Logan was educated at Sherbourne, being in Harper House and then going to Canford. By the time of the outbreak of the Second World War Logan was back in his native Queensland and was a stockman in Maxwelton upon his joining the Australian Forces in October 1939. Having served in the ranks in North Africa, including the Defence of Tobruk, he was withdrawn to attend Officer training.
Commissioned Lieutenant in October 1941, he re-joined the 2/12th Battalion and landed at Milne Bay, Papua in August 1942. After occupying Goodenough Island from 22 October-28 December 1942, the unit were thence deployed onto Buna. At 0851hrs, whilst Second-in-Command of Captain Murray's Company, they flanked left to Simena Creek, Giropa Point, at which point Logan was tragically felled by a Sniper's bullet. He was but 20 years of age and his remains laid where he had fallen, leaving his widow Daisy without a grave to visit. That was until recent years, when his remains and those of several comrades from the Battle were discovered and identified. On 1 December 2009 he was finally laid to rest with full Military Honours at Bomana War Cemetery, Port Moresby; sold together with copied research.
