Victory Medal 1914-19 (2/Lieut. D. G. MacSwiney. R.A.F.), good very fine
Denis George McSwiney, also spelled MacSwiney, was born on 9 June 1892 and worked for the Hudson Bay Company at Edmonton, Canada between 1912-1915. Leaving this employment to work as an accountant at Hope, British Colombia, McSwiney was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant with the Royal Air Force on 13 January 1918. He was posted to No. 4 Group and in October 1918 joined 232 Squadron flying anti-submarine patrols over the North Sea. It was here that he finished the war, being transferred to the unemployed list on 2 February 1920. McSwiney left his forwarding address as Vancouver Hotel, Vancouver, British Colombia; sold together with copied service papers.
