Victory Medal 1914-19 (M.1069 A. A. Clunn. E.R.A.3 R.N.; 308708 H. C. Roberts. S.P.O. R.N.), lightly polished, very fine (2)

Andrew Arthur Clunn was born at Rochester, Kent on 3 December 1893. Enlisting as a Boy Artificer on 16 July 1909, he was promoted Engine Room Artificer class V on 1 January 1909 while serving at H.M.S. Indus. Posted to H.M.S. Africa on 5 February 1914 Clunn saw the outbreak of the Great War aboard that vessel, being promoted Engine Room Artificer class IV while aboard. Africa served much of the war with the Grand Fleet before being posted to the Adriatic in September 1916. After limited service with the Italian Blockade there, Africa undertook patrols in the Atlantic and off South America. Clunn remained aboard her until the end of the war, continuing with service aboard a number of vessels including Sheldrake, Gannet and Ambuscade. Promoted Engine Room Artificer Class I on 8 June 1927 he was discharged on 16 October 1928.

Henry Charles Roberts was born at Woolwich on 24 September 1886. Enlisting on 11 August 1905, he served as a Stoker class II in the years leading up to the Great War. Promoted Stoker Petty Officer on 12 February 1914 he was soon posted to H.M.S. Beagle, seeing the bulk of his war service with her in the Mediterranean. Her she saw action during the landings on Anzac Cove, serving as troopship for the 9th Queensland Regiment and later providing fire support. Present for the sinking of the Cornwallis, Roberts saw the rest of the war out aboard the Blonde from 14 November 1917. Promoted Chief Stoker on 1 December 1923 while aboard H.M.S. Bluebell, he was demobilised on 10 August 1927; sold together with copied service record.
