British War Medal 1914-20 (13854 Pte. T.G. Chambers. Essex R.), contact marks, very fine

Thomas Gibbs Chambers was born in 1885 in Stepney, London and joined the Western Front in July 1915 with the 10th Essex Regiment. They participated in the Battle of the Somme where they were involved in the attacks on Montauban, Delville Wood, and Thiepval, and again saw action during the Battle of Passchendaele in July 1917. Chambers was discharged on demobilisation in March 1919 but later re-enlisted as a Private with the 1st Royal Berkshire Regiment that September. He was posted to North West Persia in May 1920, where Chambers remained until his death in Baghdad in July 1921 and was buried in the Baghdad North Gate War Cemetery; sold together with copied research.

Chambers is further entitled to a 1914-15 Star, Victory Medal and a General Service 1918-62 medal with N.W. Persia clasp.
