India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 (16911 Cpl. W. Morriss, R.A.Force.), nearly extremely fine

William Morris was born in 1889, likely a native of Neath, Glamorgan for his father lived at 32 King Street. Young Morris was a Clerk on the Great Western Railways upon his joining the Royal Flying Corps on 29 December 1915. Having served in France during the Great War (British War and Victory Medals), he thence went out to India with No. 31 Squadron, Royal Air Force, sharing in the first time the newly-formed Force went on campaign in India. Having served in the campaigns with 52 Wing (comprising No.'s 21, 31, 48 & 114 Squadrons), he was admitted to the Station Hospital at Peshawar and was eventually discharged in April 1920. He was further authorised for the clasps 'Waziristan 1919-21' and 'Mahsud 1919-21' in September 1936.
