Tibet 1903-04, silver issue, 1 clasp, Gyantse (2725 Naick Jaimal Singh 23rd Sikh Pioneers), a couple of light contact marks, otherwise very fine or better
Six companies of the 23rd Sikh Pioneers participated in the British expedition to Tibet which lasted from December 1903 until September 1904. The expedition was intended to further the diplomatic relationship between the two states and to resolve a border dispute but became a military conflict.
This medal was awarded in both silver and bronze, with silver medals received by combatant troops involved in the operations in or near the Gyantse Fortress from 3 May through 6 July 1904. About 2,600 silver medals were granted to members of the Indian Army.
