Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Somaliland 1908-10 (PLY 9446 Pte J. Cardiff, R.M.L.I. H.M.S. Diana.), a couple of light contact marks, otherwise very fine

James Cardiff was born at Blackfriars, Glasgow on 12 July 1880 and was a mason's labourer prior to his enlistment into the Royal Marines Light Infantry at Glasgow on 17 October 1898. He served on Phoenix from 20 February 1900 until 30 June 1903. Cardiff saw service in China and received the medal on 15 February 1903. He served on Diana from 6 November 1906 until 3 February 1911, and received his Africa General Service Medal on 27 May 1912. Cardiff later served on Duke of Edinburgh from 8 March 1914 to 19 April 1915 and on Liverpool from 21 July 1915 until 28 March 1919. He was demobilised on 20 December 1919 and later died on 25 June 1953.
