William Doyle also served in the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Volunteer Rifles, Kitchener's Horse and Warren's Mounted Infantry. He is entitled to a Queen's South Africa Medal with 4 clasps, appearing on the roll of Kitchener's Horse. Doyle joined the Bushmanland Borderers on 18 January 1902 at Calvina, likely as part of the first batch of reinforcements after that unit's stalwart defence of Tontelbosch Kolk. When first formed, this unit numbered just 100 troopers although it was enlarged in 1902 and eventually numbered 600; sold together with copied service papers and research.
