Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, South Africa 1901 (67791 Gnr: H. Edwards, R.F.A.), very fine
Hugh Edwards was born at Maston, Flintshire. He was previously a labourer and had also served with the 4th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers Militia before he attested into the Royal Artillery at Preston on 27 June 1888. He served in South Africa between 1 January 1889 and 18 May 1893. Edwards returned to England before serving again in South Africa from 1 November 1899 until 28 January 1901, at which point he returned home on 29 January 1901. Less than a year later on 16 October 1901, Edwards was discharged as being medically unfit.
