Thomas Stone served with the 3rd Battalion, Grenadier Guards and was wounded in action at the Battle of the Alma on 20 September 1854. Colonel (later General Sir) The Honourable George Cadogan did a fine watercolour entitled 'Last stand of two Guardsmen in Battle', now in the collection of the National Army Museum.
