Baltic 1854-55 (George R. Morrison. Master. R.N.), contemporarily engraved in capital letters, fitted with three pronged silver riband buckle for wear, light contact marks, otherwise very fine
George R. Morrison was appointed to Resistance on 16 April 1850 and passed the Trinity House for Frigates on 28 January 1851. Promoted Master on 10 December 1852, he applied on 21 January 1853 to join Bulldog from Blenheim. Morrison commenced his service on Bulldog on 24 January 1854 and was later paid off the Bulldog on 25 March 1857 with the note of being very zealous, cheerful and trustworthy.
On 14 April 1857, Morrison went to Melampus for service in Argus on 25 August 1859. He later went to Dauntless for Argus on 15 May 1863, Dauntless for Coast Guard, and once again Dauntless for Coast Guard on 1 April 1864. Morrison was paid off on 30 April 1868 and applied to Hector for service with the Coast Guard. Morrison became Staff Commander on 5 August 1869 and was placed on the retired list just under a year later on 1 April 1870. He later died on 11 April 1892 at 3 Temple Street, London Road, Dover, Kent; sold with copied records which are somewhat difficult to decipher.
