India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Burma 1885-7 (F. Taylor, Ord. H.M.S. Woodlark.), good very fine and scarce

62 Burma 1885-7 clasps were issued to the crew of Woodlark.

Frank Taylor was born at Islington on 22 May 1860 and enlisted as Boy Class II on 15 February 1876. Reaching maturity with Alexandra in 1879 he served with a number of vessels including Inconstant, Minotaur and Warrior before joining Woodlark on 16 September 1865.

This gunboat later joined the Irrawaddy Flotilla during the Third Anglo-Burmese war, operating in that river for the duration of the conflict. Promoted Able Seaman on 15 July 1886, Taylor continued to serve until the next year when he was discharged on 9 June 1888. Taylor died on 13 October 1909; sold together with copied medal roll and service record.
