Maharajpoor Star 1843 (Assistt. Surgeon Henry Walker Governor General's Body Guard), original loop for suspension, good very fine

Henry Walker was born in April 1803, and was educated at St. Thomas’, Guys’, Webb St. School and Berlin (L.S.A. 1824, M.R.C.S. 1835). Walker was appointed Assistant Surgeon in May 1839, and served with the Governor General’s Body Guard during the Gwalior War, 1843-44. He served as Surgeon to Governor General Lord Hardinge during the Sutlej War, 1845-46, and was present at Moodkee (where he had his horse shot from under him), Ferozeshuhur, and Sobraon (Mentioned in Despatches London Gazette 1 April 1846). Walker advanced to Surgeon in May 1853, and died at Hendon in May 1857.
