Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Syria (John Banbrooke.), good very fine

John Banbrook was born at Dunmow, Essex and attested in 1825 being posted to the 70th Company, Royal Marines. He was serving aboard H.M.S. Ganges during the Syria campaign, and was a member of the shore party which landed under Captain Robinson to attack Beirut in September 1840. Banbrook appears as an outpatient of the Royal Military Hospital, Chelsea living at 27 North Street, Dunmow. He died at Great Dunmow, Essex on 25 July 1868.
