A Great War casualty group of three to Driver W. H. Rhead, Army Service Corps, who died in Greece on 24 December 1918

British War and Victory Medals (T4-186340 Dvr. W. H. Rhead. A.S.C.); Memorial Plaque (William Herbert Rhead), extremely fine (3)

William Herbert Rhead served with 238th Heavy Transport Company of the Army Service Corps and died on 24 December 1918. He was the son of Thomas Henry and Bessie Rhead, of Leek, Staffordshire; husband of Fanny Rhead, of 94, Mayer St., Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.

He is buried in the Bralos British Cemetery in Greece. Bralos is a mountain in central Greece approximately 190 km north of Athens and 325 km southeast of Thessaloniki just off the E75 motorway. Bralos cemetery is situated on a plateau between Bralos and Parnassos Mountains.

A scarce casualty for service in Greece, likely to be Influenza; sold together with

A note from the Imperial War Graves Commission dated 30 June 1925 stating that the permanent memorials have been placed on the graves in 'Bralo Brit Cem Greece'.
