John Evan Jones was born in 1890 and a native of Maentwrog, Merioneth, North Wales and enlisted on 23 May 1916. He entered the war in August 1916 and served with the 77th Anti-Aircraft Battery later being admitted to the 15th Casualty Clearing Station on 6 November 1918. Diagnosed with pneumonia, Jones was sent to No. 18 General Hospital and eventually evacuated to Lakenham Military Hospital, Norwich and demobilised on 25 March 1919.
